The tablet market never sleeps; there is at least one new tablet in the market every day. Right now we are eagerly waiting for the launch of Apple’s iPad Mini and the numerous number of hybrid Windows 8 tablets which will hit the market once Microsoft launches their new operating system.


With so many tablets to choose from customer in the gadget world is spoilt for choice and it is very natural to get confused or to make the wrong choice. So, here we have a list of the great Android tablets which you can buy today instead of waiting for the iPad Mini or hybrid Windows 8 tablets.


 1. Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7

The tablet from Samsung comes with a 7.7 inch Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touch screen which supports a resolution of 800 X 1280 pixels. The screen enlivens all the texts and graphics making it a favorite among tablet users. The tablet is powered by a 1.4GHz dual core processor which is backed by 1GB of RAM. Originally the tablet functioned on Android 2.3 Honeycomb but in July 2012 it was upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system which delighted the users.


The tablet comes with a 3 mega pixel rear camera with features like auto focus, LED flash and geo tagging. It also has a 2 mega pixel front facing camera which allows the user to make video calls. The rear camera captures images of 2048 X 1536 pixels.


But the point which the tablet loses out is its price; which does border on the expensive side.

2. Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet – 8 GB

The Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet comes with a 7 inch screen and a very pleasing price tag. The screen comes with a resolution of 1440 X 900 pixels with a pixel per inch (ppi) density of 243. With its screen specifications, this tablets beats Amazon’s Kindle.


The tablet is powered by a 1.3 GHz dual core processor which is backed by 1 GB of RAM. It functions on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. Along with the internal memory of 8 GB it comes with a slot for a microSD card.


But the disappointing factor with the tablet is that one doesn’t get full and complete access to the Android store and the apps. It also doesn’t have Bluetooth, GPS or a camera. But more than anything else it is the price and the immense content access from Barnes and Nook are the things that attract one towards this tablet


3. Amazon Kindle Fire HD

The tablet Kindle Fire HD from Amazon comes with a 7 inch IPS TFT capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 800 X 1280 pixels. The device is powered by a 1.2 GHz Dual-core Cortex-A9 processor and is backed by 1 GB of RAM. The device functions on a customized version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.


The camera in the tablet is a letdown. It has only a rear camera with 1.3 mega pixels and it clicks pictures with a resolution of 1280 X 1024 pixels. The secondary camera is missing which means you won’t be able to make video calls.


The specifications aren’t anything close to the top end tablets, but Kindle Fire HD is perfect for catching up with reading as well as watching movies. With a single charge the tablet promises up to 11 hours of battery life.

The futuristic tablet has an 8 GB of internal memory, with a slot for a microSD for expanding the memory up to 32 GB.


The tablet comes with a 3.1 mega pixel rear camera which captures images with a resolution of 2048 X 1536 pixels. The rear camera comes with features like geo tagging and smile detection. The device also comes with a 2 mega pixel secondary VGA camera which allows the users to make video calls.  It functions on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.


The device comes with a 4000 mAh Li-Ion Standard Battery which provided the user with up to 40 hours of talk time and up to 1190 hours of standby time.

This tablet comes with a gorgeous screen which has Corning Glass that protects it from scratches


The tablet is powered by a Quad-core Tegra 3 processor which makes it fast and it functions on Android 4.1 Jelly bean operating system. Working on this device is a sheer pleasure. It has an internal memory of 8 GB and has a1.2 mega pixel primary camera but is missing a secondary camera.


The disappointing factor in this device is the lack of a slot for microSD card and HDMI port.
